Martin Hetzer

President & CEO // ISTA

Martin Hetzer has been President of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) since January 2023, where he heads a research group as Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology. Before returning to Austria, he conducted research for over 20 years at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California, where he also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Science Officer. Together with his group, Hetzer made significant contributions in the field of ageing research, in particular cell ageing.
