4FUTURE DAY 2024

GLOBAL STAGE

Panel: Female Apprentice Hackathon

The celebration of young talents: Honoring the participants and winners of the Female Apprentice Hackathon 2024
CEOs FOR FUTURE and apprentigo honor the outstanding achievements of the young women at the Female Apprentice Hackathon 2024. The talents and their innovative and sustainable app projects will be put in the spotlight and duly celebrated.

Over 1,000 apprentices from all apprenticeship professions have already taken part in Apprentigo Hackathons©, the only educational format of its kind in Europe. The innovative concept combines blended learning with platform-supported learning journeys. Working in teams, the apprentices develop an app prototype within a day using low-code software. In this way, they solve social or internal company problems and at the same time develop essential skills such as information technology thinking, time management, communication, problem-solving skills and creativity.

Promoting women in STEM professions
The "Special Edition" of the apprentigo hackathons focuses on promoting young women and girls in STEM professions and digitalization. Companies are desperately looking for talented young people in these areas in order to actively shape the digital transformation and change in society. The Female Apprentigo Hackathon helps to combat the underrepresentation of women in these fields. This is because there are currently only around 3,000 women in STEM apprenticeships. That is 3% of all apprentices in Austria.

The Female Apprenticeship Hackathon will take place under the patronage of Doris Schmidauer, who supports the promotion of women and girls in STEM professions with the Initiative Digitalisierung Chancengerecht, among other things.

The Female Lehrlingshackathon promotes the development of skills such as computational thinking, time management, communication, problem-solving, and creativity among young talents. This contributes to improving the quality of education and promoting lifelong learning.

By focusing on young women and girls in STEM professions and digitalization, the Lehrlingshackathon supports the promotion of gender equality and the fight against the underrepresentation of women in these fields.

The event helps improve employment opportunities for young women in STEM professions while also meeting companies' needs for qualified professionals in these areas, contributing to economic growth.

By addressing the underrepresentation of women in STEM professions, the Lehrlingshackathon contributes to reducing inequalities in society and promoting an integrative and inclusive work environment.
