Gerda Binder

Gerda Binder is UNICEF’s Senior Advisor for Gender Equality & Digital Technology. Gerda works with teams and partners on innovations to close the gender digital divide, with a focus on girls; on promoting digital solutions developed with, for and by women and girls; gender-responsive digital literacy; safeguarding in digital platforms; and leveraging tech for the prevention and response to gender-based violence.

Gerda is also the initiator and global lead of Oky, UNICEF’s Girltech flagship initiative and a digital public good. Oky is a digital innovation co-created with and for adolescent girls to provide menstruation education and period tracking in the ways they want, showcasing how tech needs to be designed to meet girls’ digital realities, to be inclusive, and to tackle gender inequalities and discrimination in new ways.
