Cornelia Daniel | Solar Entrepreneur | Author | Speaker In 2011, when photovoltaics was but a small niche in Austria, Cornelia Daniel founded the company Dachgold to support commercial companies in the implementation of their photovoltaic systems. Her life’s mission – inspired by Bill Gates’ personal aspiration, was this: “a photovoltaic system on every corporate roof.” Her first step toward this goal was the “Thousand and One Roofs” initiative, a solar project for companies launched in 2014 that led to her be named Austrian of the Year in the Climate category in 2020 by the daily newspaper “Die Presse”. The goal was to solarise 1001 roofs in seven years, primarily through economic facts & figures and reasoning based on production costs instead of amortisation. Her success has proven her right. In her lecture “The Legend of the Thousand and One Roofs”, Cornelia tells the incredible story of how utopia became reality.
