Musical Performer // Ana Milva Gomes
Ana Milva Gomes has been drawn to the stage since childhood. With extraordinary talent, a lot of hard work and irrepressible will, the daughter of Cape Verdean immigrants successfully fought her way into leading roles in musicals such as "Mamma Mia! But away from the spotlight, the likeable artist repeatedly comes up against the limits of a monochrome society. After the birth of her daughter and the media-effective death of the African-American George Floyd, she realises that her appearance is more political than intended - and begins to reflect on her own painful experiences with discrimination. Movingly and without any accusation, she tells of intended and unintended racism, degrading stereotypes and her responsibility as a black woman on stage - a passionate appeal to society for more openness and conscious intercultural coexistence.
