Therese Niss is an Austrian entrepreneur and politician. She is a board member of Mitterbauer Beteiligungs AG, the holding unit of her family-owned industrial company in Upper Austria. Additionally, she was chairwoman of the Young Industrial Association of Austria (Junge Industrie) from 2009 until 2017. In 2017, she became a Member of the Austrian parliament and has taken on the role of the spokesperson for research, innovation and digitalisation of the Austrian Peoples Party. In this position, her key objective is to enhance Austria as a business location and increase the country’s innovation advantage. In order to achieve this goal, cooperation between universities, research institutions and businesses, i.e. an excellent working innovation ecosystem, is essential according to Niss. Additionally, she sees they key for long-term economic success in Austria in the educational system. She strongly supports future-oriented educational measures, which aim to enhance skills in IT and the STEM subjects.
