After secondary technical school (HTL) in Krems Sebastian Maier did his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and infrastructure management at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) giving him a profound overview in different fields like structural engineering, street and railway constructions and hydraulic engineering. In 2018, Sebastian received his master’s degree in civil engineering from TU Wien. His master thesis was about basic researches for a new design of railway bridges. His three-year professional experience in a civil engineering office included structural analysis and the detailed construction planning of bridges along the Nord/Weinviertel motorway A5 in Lower Austria. In July 2018, Sebastian started the doctoral programme in Engineering Sciences at TU Wien. Since then he has been working as research associate at the Institute of Structural Engineering. His main tasks are patents for new bridge construction methods and supervising projects and contests of students.
