Nadia Magnenat Thalmann is chairing the Institute for Media Innovation at NTU in Singapore and the MIRALab interdisciplinary lab at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She has been pioneering the field of Virtual Humans since the late eighties. Actually, she is developing social robots. Her latest robot is Nadine. Nadine is a realistic human like robot that can speak many languages, recognize people and simulate emotions during the conversation. She can work in insurances and banks as well as act as a companion when nobody is there, as for example for elderly people.
