Mario Kargl

Professional Tennis player, born deaf, gold medal winner

Mario Kargl is a professionell Tennis player. He was born profoundly deaf, uses verbal communication, lipreads and wears hearing aids. He has never let his disability stand in the way and accepts every challenge. He won three times the bronze medal
at the Deaflympics in 2009, 2013 and 2017. His major achievements were the Deaf-World Championships with 3 gold medals in singles and team competitions as well as Tripple US Open winner in 2010 and winner of the German Open in 2012. He is
currently in full training fo the upcoming Deaf World Championships at the Berger-Eschauer Tennis Academy and helping as assistant coach for the new generation of promising talents. He is especially skilled to motivate and encourage players who feel
a certain instability to score and thus to win matches. He is passionate about deaf awareness and helping other players with his unique sensitivity and ability to recognize where the strengths and weaknesses lie.
