Katharina Wenty

Studentin, Produktionshilfe und Poetin - state champion in Poetry Slam

Katharina Wenty, born 1995, grew up in Vienna where she started writing her own short stories and poems at the age of nine. Later she also discovered her passion for filmmaking and won several short film awards, e.g. “Media Literacy Award”, “Zeitimpuls Kurzfilmaward 2013 + 2016”, „Science Clip des Jahres“ etc. After school she started studying theatre-, film- and media-studies at the university of Vienna, followed by a course of lectures in Multimedia at the Höhere Graphische Bundes-, Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt. In 2016 Katharina started performing at Poetry Slams and in 2018 she became the Wien/Niederösterreich/Burgenland state champion in Poetry Slam and achieved the 5th place in the European Poetry Slam Championship. She has not only performed at political events such as „Zukunftskongress der Grünen Europa“, „Wiener Woche der Würde“ etc., but also in international cities like Budapest, Bratislava, Zurich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Nürnberg, Torino, Sassari, Rabat … Besides her studies and poetry performances, she currently works as a production assistant in the newsroom of the public-service broadcasting ORF.
