Heidrun Strohmeyer is Head of the Directorate IT, Digitalisation and Media at the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF). As Chief Digital Officer she has overall responsibility for the digitalisation agendas of the BMBWF. Above all, she steers the strategy development and implementation with regard to the sustainable use of digital technologies in Austrians classrooms. After several years working for the IT industry and as a teacher for informatics Heidrun started to work in the Ministry of Education where she has held various management positions: she was Head of the Department responsible for IT in education administration and personnel controlling, Deputy Head of the Personnel Directorate, Director general for general pedagogical affairs, adult education and information technologies as well as Director for information technology, statistics and gender issues.
The Federal Ministry is responsible for the development of framework conditions for schools, universities and research institutions and represents the interests of Austria as a location for science, research and business on an international level.
