Dorothee Ritz has been General Manager of Microsoft Austria since July 2015 and intends to play an active role in shaping the digital transformation in Austria. Since 2004, Ritz has held various management positions at Microsoft. Most recently, she led “Microsoft International Business Strategy” for the President of Microsoft International, who is responsible for the international business outside the USA. Prior to that, she spent eight years in the management of Microsoft Germany as General Manager for Consumer & Online and Advertising & Online. Her biggest accomplishments at Microsoft include implementing a strategy for the “mobile first, cloud first” and promoting solutions to the challenges of digital transformation. Furthermore, she was responsible for the expansion of MSN, Hotmail and the introduction of Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9. Before joining Microsoft Germany, Dorothee Ritz was a founding member of the German Xchanging GmbH and worked for the Bertelsmann AG in the Online Services & New Media division. Among other things, she was part of the founding team of AOL Europe and the AOL management in Australia. Dorothee Ritz is married, mother of two children and, in addition to her professional activities, is a member of the board of the non-profit children’s aid organization Plan International Deutschland. Born in Germany, she holds a master’s degree in European Community Law from the University of London and a doctorate in law with a focus on online law.
