**Forced Renewable Expansion in Germany - What Can Austria Take Away from the Easter Package?
Austria's leading energy supplier VERBUND invited to another explosive energy breakfast from the MorgenGespräche event series on Thursday, May 19, from 08:30 - 09:30. As with the previous talks, 4GAMECHANGERS as a long-term partner can provide this both via livestream and in the aftermath HERE on demand.
Forced Renewable Expansion in Germany - What Can Austria Learn from the Easter Package?
The war in Ukraine has massively increased the pressure on the energy sector and at the same time acts as an accelerator for the energy transition. Even though the Austrian government can already point to highly ambitious partial successes, such as the EAG package with its expansion target of 27 TWh by 2030, its implementation is proving difficult for many reasons. For example, a lack of expansion areas, lengthy approval procedures, a shortage of skilled workers, massive price increases due to the recent rise in demand and, last but not least, repeatedly interrupted supply chains, all confront committed investors who want to drive expansion forward.
Germany, on the other hand, has responded to all these challenges with a recent and comprehensive Easter package, aiming to generate 600 TWh of electricity from solar and wind power by 2030 at the latest, and to push ahead with the conversion as far as possible. But are these progressive legislative measures also an opportunity for Austria? And what can Austria take away from the Easter package? These are all questions that will be addressed in the second Verbund MorgenGespräch early this morning.
